Men's Soccer Prevail 8-1 at Home Against Lesley

CHICOPEE, Mass. - The Elms College Men's Soccer team hosted Lesley University for a non-conference game on Wednesday evening.

BASICS
Score: Elms College 8 | Lesley University 1
Records: Blazers 4-1-0, 0-0-0 (GNAC) | Lynx 0-4-0, 1-0-0 (NAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED

Elms would start the game off with a strong offensive presence, recording two shots in the opening eight minutes of play, but shortly thereafter, junior defender Nicolas Velasquez (Ellington, Conn.) would connect a pass to senior forward Jacobo Molina Ferrer (Valencia, Spain) for the opening goal of the contest. The Blazers would continue to add to their offensive pressure, seeing additional shots from N.Velasquez and sophomore Ramaul Morgan, Jr. (Port Chester, N.Y.), until Molina Ferrer and junior forward Dru Fairthorne (Ludlow, Mass.) would both find passes from senior midfielder Pajorn Drysdale (Nantucket, Mass.) to bring the score to 3-0. Sophomore goalkeeper Jack Bousquet (Clinton, Conn.) would make a save, but Lesley would find the back of the net before the halftime break, to bring the score to 3-1.

The Lynx would take the first shot out of the break, but Bousquet would make the save. The two intrastate foes would continue to put pressure on each other's defense, including a penalty kick attempt that would be stopped by Bousquet. Shortly thereafter, Elms would draw a foul to give them a penalty kick of their own. Fairthorne would step up for the challenge and would find the back of the net for his second goal of the game. Both teams would continue to trade possession until Molina Ferrer and Fairthorne would both score their third goals of the matchup, to record their first hat tricks of the season. Lesley would continue to try to score for a second time, but they would not be successful due to a strong defensive effort by the Blazers, including a defensive save by first year Samuel Webster (Malaga, Spain). Soon thereafter, Elms would draw a foul near midfield and junior midfielder Andrew Velasquez (Ellington, Conn.) would connect a long pass to Webster for a goal in the 81st minute of play. As the clock would continue to wind down, the Lynx would continue their efforts to score, but senior midfielder Jelani John (Castries, Saint Lucia) would score one final goal to cement the 8-1 victory over Lesley.
