PRIOR TO THE GAME

The Men's Soccer team would honor their five seniors; forward Jacobo Molina Ferrer (Valencia, Spain), forward/midfielder Wai Kyaw (West Springfield, Mass.), forward Leonardo De Moura (Rio De Janeiro, Brazil), midfielder Pajorn Drysdale (Nantucket, Mass.), defender Zachary Delaney (Chicopee, Mass.), and one graduate student defender Devano Clarke (Barnstable, Mass.).

HOW IT HAPPENED

Emmanuel would create early offensive pressure, after taking a corner kick attempt in the open minutes, but the two conference foes would trade possession through most of the opening half. Then in the 19th minute of play, the Saints would score the first goal of the match. Shots would be taken from both sides, including three from Molina Ferrer and Drysdale. Then moments later, sophomore forward Ramaul Morgan, Jr. (Port Chester, N.Y.) would connect a pass with junior forward Dru Fairthorne (Ludlow, Mass.) to score the equalizing goal. Fairthorne would take a second shot seconds later, but it would find the goal and the two conference opponents would go into the halftime break with an even score of 1-1.

Emmanuel would come out of the break trying to score the goal-ahead goal, but the Blazers defense would hold strong by blocking two attempts along with two saves from sophomore goalkeeper Jack Bousquet (Clinton, Conn.). Both teams would continue their efforts to score a second time, with Elms seeing attempts by Morgan, Jr., Fairthorne, and Molina Ferrer. Unfortunately in the 89th minute, the Saints would score one final goal to secure the 2-1 conference victory over Elms.
