Buccaneers Snap Men's Soccer's Win Streak

CHICOPEE, Mass. - The Elms College Men's Soccer team hosted the Massachusetts Maritime Academy in a non-conference game at Leary Field on Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Mass. Maritime would have the offensive advantage early, taking the first shot in the opening minutes, but would be the first to score in the third minute of play. Shortly thereafter, junior midfielder Andrew Velasquez (Ellington, Conn.) would take the first shot for Elms. The two intrastate opponents would trade blows, fighting for possession, shots from junior forward Dru Fairthorne (Ludlow, Mass.), junior midfielder Jahmai Dixon (Duncans Trelawny, Jamaica), first year defender Samuel Webster (Malaga, Spain), and sophomore forward Ramaul Morgan, Jr. (Port Chester, N.Y.), and three saves by sophomore goalkeeper Jack Bousquet (Clinton, Conn.), as the Blazers would hold the Buccaneers lead to 1-0.

The second half would see MMA taking the early advantage, continuing to take shots, but Bousquet would continue to make saves, as Morgan, Jr., Webster, sophomore forward/defender Ibrahim Ayouba (Springfield, Mass.), senior forward Jacobo Molina Ferrer (Valencia, Spain) would take shots, but the Buccaneers would capitalize and score a second goal to secure the 2-0 victory over Elms.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Bousquet would make eight saves after seeing 10 shots on goal.

  • Webster and Morgan, Jr. would take a team leading three shots.

  • Ayouba, Molina Ferrer, and A. Velasquez each would record two shots.

  • Dixon and Fairthorne would add a shot.

 

UP NEXT: The Elms Men's Soccer team will travel to Cobleskill, N.Y. on Saturday, September 6th to face SUNY Cobleskill at 2 pm in a non-conference game.
