HOW IT HAPPENED
The two conference foes would begin the match trading offensive possession early, with Elms taking a header shot from sophomore forward Ramaul Morgan, Jr. (Port Chester, N.Y.). Colby-Sawyer would take their first shot and it would be saved by sophomore goalkeeper Jack Bousquet (Clinton, Conn.), but the ball would go out of play and give the Chargers a corner kick attempt. CSC would take the corner and the ball would sail to the far end of the goal and score the opening goal of the game. Even with the Chargers earning the first lead, the Blazers would continue to put forward their best effort, with a shot from senior forward Jacobo Molina Ferrer (Valencias, Spain), but Colby-Sawyer would continue to hold the momentum, taking four shots, with Bousquet making a save, but the Chargers would add one last goal before the halftime break to gain a 2-0.
The second half would begin with a different narrative, as junior midfielder Jelani John (Castries, Saint Lucia) would kick a deep pass to Molina Ferrer and he would score the first goal for Elms. John and Molina Ferrer would two more shots, along with a pair of back-to-back saves from Bousquet. Then in the 64th minute of play, the Blazers would draw a foul in front of the goal for a penalty kick attempt with Molina Ferrer taking the shot and would answer the call to score the equalizing goal.
