Blazers Ended Their Season With a Splash
Standish, ME - The Elms College Blazers competed in a tri-meet against Regis Collage, and hosted by Saint Joseph's College of Maine.
THE BASICS:
PARTICIPATING TEAMS:
Elms College
Regis College
Saint Joseph's College of Maine
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Blazers made their first splash in the 50-yard freestyle where Senior Captain Ashley Cronkhite (Lewiston, ME) touched at 27.34 seconds just off her life time best. Melany Boivin (Watertown, CT) also competed in the 50-yard freestyle and dropped four seconds off her previous lifetime best.
First Year Miguel Pearce (New Haven, CT) competed in the 50-yard butterfly and grabbed third place. Cronkhite and Pearce competed in the 100-yard individual medley. Pearce posted a lifetime best in this event as well as Cronkhite.
The Blazer's last swim of the season was also Cronkhite's last swim representing Elms College. Cronkhite left it all in the pool in the 50-yard backstroke. She finished with the second fastest time of her career.
FROM THE DESK OF COACH WALKER:
"What a great way to end the season. The swimmers had a blast and the atmosphere was fantastic. I am very proud of Ashley Cronkhite and how much progress she made this season. She dropped two seconds in the 50-yard backstroke, over a second in the 50-yard freestyle, and almost a second in the 100-yard freestyle. Those drops were not given they were earned by hard work and dedication. She will be missed on the pool deck, but she can look back at these last four years with a sense of pride and accomplishment. GO BLAZERS!"
