McGillis Sets New 50 Yard Freestyle Record at Meet Against Fighting Scotts and Pride

WENHAM, MA - First Year Joni McGillis had a stand out meet on Friday at Gordon College where she set a new 50 freestyle record for Elms College Women's Swimming. McGillis swam a 25.09 in the freestyle breaking the school record of 25.52 from 2014.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
 
Elms College made a splash at Gordon College. Joni McGillis (Katy,TX) and Ashley Cronkhite (Lewiston, MA) came in first and third in the 50 yard freestyle to start off the meet. McGillis broke an eight year old record and achieved a personal best by .50 seconds. With a time of 25.09 McGillis holds the fastest 50 yard freestyle in the GNAC at this point of the season. Cronkhite also posted a personal best in the 50 by over a second.
 
The Blazers placed second in the 100 yard butterfly and second and third in the 100 yard freestyle.

"Everything fell into place Friday night. The results are a reflection of how hard everyone has been working. I was very happy that Joni broke the school record in the 50. I am looking forward to seeing more of her name on that board. GO BLAZERS!"
 
UP NEXT:
 
-The Blazers are on the road Saturday, 11/5 traveling to University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford, CT. They will be competing against Albertus Magnus College, Saint Joseph University of Maine, and University of Saint Joseph.
