Men's Soccer Concludes 2024 Regular Season with 4-0 Loss to Lasers

NEWTON, Mass. - The Elms College Men's Soccer team traveled to Lasell University in a conference matchup Tuesday afternoon to conclude their regular season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Lasell would begin the game with an early advantage, after scoring the first goal in the opening minute of play. Moments later, sophomore midfielder Jelani John (Castries, Saint Lucia) would take the first shot for Elms, but would be blocked, followed by a shot from senior defender Emmanuel Monge (Humacao, Puerto Rico), but the Lasers would continue to hold the advantage. Senior goalkeeper Aidan Berube (Chicopee, Mass.) recorded two saves in the opening half. Monge would then take a header shot, but it would be saved by Lasell's goalkeeper. With the clock ticking down towards the halftime break, the Lasers would add to their lead, scoring the second goal in the 44th minute of play, and would hold their 2-0 lead as the whistle blew for the end of the half.

The Lasers would continue to put pressure on the Blazers defense out of the gate, taking four shots in the first ten minutes. Berube would make two saves, but Lasell would score two additional goals during that span of time, going up 4-0. First-year midfielder Luigi Scala (Milan, Italy) would take a final shot for Elms in the 69th minute of play, but that shot would be saved. The two sides would trade possession until the final whistle blew, as the Lasers would defeat the Blazers 4-0 in their final contest of the 2024 regular season.

  • Monge led the Blazers with two shots with one shot on net.

  • Berube would make five saves of the nine shots he faced.
