Men’s Soccer Loses on the Road at USJ

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - The Elms College Men's Soccer team traveled to the University of Saint Joseph, Conn. for a conference matchup Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The opening half would start off with an offensive frenzy from the University of Saint Joseph, taking a shot in the opening minutes, followed by a goal moments later. The Blue Jays would keep their foot on the gas pedal taking six more shots, adding one more goal to their lead. Elms would record their shot off the boot of senior midfielder Joe Chartier (Palmer, Mass.) and then followed by a goal from senior forward/midfielder Wai Kyaw (West Springfield, Mass.). The two conference foes would trade possession and take shots, including from junior forward Jacobo Molina Ferrer (Valencia, Spain) and sophomore defender Nicolas Velasquez (Ellington, Conn.), but the Blue Jays would go into the halftime break holding their lead 2-1.

Junior midfielder Pajorn Drysdale (Nantucket, Mass.) would kick off the second half with two quick shots. USJ would quickly respond with a large handful of shots, including a penalty shot that would be saved by senior goalkeeper Aidan Berube (Chicopee, Mass.). The Blazers would see one more shot from sophomore Patricio Vidales (Cancun, Mexico), but the Blue Jays would add more goal to secure the conference victory 3-1.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Berube would record five saves in the contest.

  • Drysdale led the Blazers with two shots and one shot on net.

  • Kyaw would have the lone goal for Elms in the matchup.

UP NEXT: The Elms Men's Soccer team will host Albertus Magnus College in a conference matchup on Saturday, September 28th at 5 PM at Leary Field.
