Men’s Soccer Defeats Dean 2-0 at Home

CHICOPEE, Mass. - The Elms College Men's Soccer team hosted Dean College for a conference match up Tuesday evening at Leary Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The opening half would begin with Elms bringing offensive pressure against Dean after shots by senior midfielder Jamal Hamisi (Nottingham, United Kingdom) and sophomore midfielder Patricio Vidales (Cancun, Mexico). The Blazers would be the first to score after Vidales would find the back of the net after a double assist from junior forward Jacobo Molina Ferrer (Valencia, Spain) and sophomore Nicolas Velasquez (Ellington, Conn.). Elms would go into the break with the 1-0 lead.

The Blazers would continue taking their shots, including from Molina Ferrer, Hamisi, and senior defender Brandyn Costa (Palmer, Mass.), until sophomore midfielder Jelani John (Castries, Saint Lucia) scored the second goal of the game after a double assist from junior midfielder Pajorn Drysdale (Nantucket, Mass.) and sophomore Andrew Velasquez (Ellington, Conn.). The two sides would trade possession for the remainder of the contest, Dean would try to score, but the Elms defense would hold them scoreless as the final horn blew, winning the match 2-0.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Senior goalkeeper Aidan Berube (Chicopee, Mass.) would save all five shots he faced.

  • Vidales would take 10 shots, six shots on net, with one goal.

  • John would take two shots, with one finding the back of the net.
