Parks Named NEWBA Rookie of the Week
SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. - For the third time this season, Elms College freshman forward Denisha Parks (Fall River, Mass.) was named New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Rookie of the Week as announced by the organization on Monday.
Parks, who was also named New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookie of the Week for the sixth time, helped the Blazers to a 3-0 week by totaling 51 points and 51 rebounds during the Elms' three-game stretch that also included a 21-point and 18-rebound effort against Bay Path College. Parks is currently the league-leader in points scored (286), points per game (17.9), field goals made (113) and free throws made (60). Elms is currently on a four-game winning streak and have now won six of their last seven games.
