Parks Named NECC Rookie of the Week
ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Elms College freshman forward Denisha Parks (Fall River, Mass.) was named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookie of the Week in women's basketball as announced by the league on Monday afternoon.
Parks had a strong showing in her first collegiate action. Parks led all scorers in Elms' win over Simmons College on Saturday, Nov. 19 with 25 points and finished with 35 points for the weekend. Parks was 50-percent shooting during the Blazers' first two games including a 10 for 20 effort against the Sharks and a 4 for 8 outing against Saint Joseph's College (Maine). Parks was also a perfect 5 for 5 from the line against Simmons and 7 of 10 during the week. Parks also served as the team's leading rebounder in each game, notching 27 for the week including 17 against the Sharks en route to her first weekly honors of the season.
