Emmanuel Outlasts Mens Soccer, 2-1
BOSTON, Mass. – Elms College junior forward Sean Moylan (Chicopee, Mass.) scored on a pass from freshman forward Adam O'Grady (Somers, Conn.) but Emmanuel College's goal from Allan Parrelli (Reading, Mass.) in the 47th minute proved to be the game-winner as the Saints escaped with a 2-1 victory over the Blazers in Wednesday evening's non-conference men's soccer game.
With the loss, Elms falls to 0-2 overall, while Emmanuel improves to 1-2 on the season.
Ivan Barrera (Millis, Mass.) started the scoring early for Emmanuel when he converted on a feed from Kevin Shirley (Madison, Conn.) just 4:44 into the contest.
Elms respond 3:15 seconds later when O'Grady's pass found Moylan who buried his first goal of the season in the back of the net, evening the score at 1-1.
The sides continued to play scoreless soccer until Kevin Esposito (Gales Ferry, Conn.) scooted a pass to Parrelli who scored just 1:58 into the second half, giving Emmanuel a 2-1 advantage. Neither team mustered much offense in the second half as the Saints were able to hang on for a 2-1 win.
Elms' junior goalkeeper Ryan Sullivan (Agawam, Mass.) made four saves in the losing effort.
Emmanuel outshot the Blazers 12-8 in the game.
