Men's Hoops Lose in the Big City to Pratt

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The Elms College Men's Basketball team traveled to the Pratt Institute for a non-conference game on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The first half would start with the Elms defense preventing Pratt from scoring in the opening possession, followed by sophomore guard Jack Lo (Harahan, La.) drawing a foul, and would make both free throw attempts. The Cannoneers would respond with a layup in their next possession, senior forward/guard RJ Mayfield (Springfield, Mass.) would then draw a foul and make both of his free throws to keep the Blazers in the lead, 4-2. The two teams would then trade possession, with Elms adding to their lead when junior guard DJ Watkins (Union, N.J.) would make a jump shot and a three-point shot, after receiving a pass from Mayfield. Pratt would then take four shots of their own to take the lead. Watkins would hit a second three-pointer, after finding a pass from senior center/guard/forward Edgardo Jacob Cancel (Northampton, Mass.), followed by a successful free throw by junior guard Arick Dagan (Southbury, Conn.). As the opening half would continue, first year forward Jaedon Bogar (Aubrey, Texas) would connect a pass to Watkins for a jump shot, Cancel would make a block and a layup, Lo would add a steal and a pair of free throws, a pair of layups from Mayfield, and Dagan would make four free throws and a jumper, along with a steal by Watkins in the closing seconds. Unfortunately,  The Cannoneers would go into the halftime break with a ten-point lead, 39-29.

The second half would start by Pratt scoring six points, the Blazers defense would try to create some momentum when junior guard Andrew Ciaglo (Hadley, Mass.) would make a steal, but the Cannoneers would continue to add to their lead. As the second half would continue, Elms would see a jump shot and a free throw from Lo, Cancel add a two pairs of free throws, a layup and a three-point shot from Lawson, Bogar recorded a layup and two blocks, first year center/forward Rayquan Anderson (Waterbury, Conn.) add three layups, Watkins would make a jump shot and a layup, jump shot by Mayfield, senior guard/forward Max Rolnick (Vaughan, Ontario) would sink a three-point shot, and sophomore forward Aiden Dunlap (Chestertown, Md.) make a layup. Unfortunately, Pratt would walk away with the 90-60 victory over the Blazers.

  • Jordan - two assists and a rebound.
