HANOVER, N.H. - The Elms College Men's Basketball team traveled to play Dartmouth College in a mid-season exhibition game on Thursday afternoon to ring in the new year.
BASICS
Score: Elms College 43 | Dartmouth College 107
Records: Blazers 6-5, 0-0 (GNAC) | Big Green 6-7, 0-0 (IVY)
HOW IT HAPPENED
Dartmouth would start the exhibition game by scoring on their first possession and would go on to score an additional four points, to take an early six point lead. After a few unsuccessful attempts, senior forward/guard RJ Mayfield (Springfield, Mass.) would block a layup and the Blazers would respond by junior guard Andrew Ciaglo (Hadley, Mass.) making a three-point shot, after receiving a pass from sophomore guard Jack Lo (Harahan, La.). The Big Green would add eight more points to their lead, but not before Lo would find an open junior guard Arick Dagan (Southbury, Conn.) to make a jump shot to bring the score to within a basket, 7-5. As Dartmouth would continue to add to their lead, Elms would continue their efforts of adding some points to the scoreboard, with junior DJ Watkins (Union, N.J.) and first year guard Jamie Lawson (Charlotte, N.C.) making a layup, Ciaglo would add a steal, senior center/guard/forward Edgardo Jacob Cancel (Northampton, Mass.) and senior guard/forward Max Rolnick (Vaughan, Ontario) would make both a three-point shot, first year forward Jaedon Bogar (Aubrey, Texas) adding a pair of free throws and a block, and first year forward/center Rayquan Anderson (Waterbury, Conn.) and would block a layup attempt. In the final minute of the opening half, Mayfield would make a steal and find an open Ciaglo for a three-point shot, but the Big Green would hold their lead over the Blazers, 49-20, going into the halftime break.
The second half would begin with Elms scoring first, when Watkins would sink a jump shot, followed by a steal by Ciaglo. Unfortunately, Dartmouth would continue to control the contest offensively, adding six points. The two teams would trade possession, with Mayfield adding a pair of layups and a steal, followed by a pair of three-point shots from Dagan and a jumper from Watkins. The Big Green offense would continue to extend their lead, but the Blazers would continue to see offensive efforts, with the assistance of a pair of jump shots by Cancel, a three-point shot from Lawson, a layup by junior guard Travis Jordan (Springfield, Mass.), along with steals by Cancel, senior forward Adam Sarlan (Chicopee, Mass.), and Rolnick. Unfortunately, Dartmouth would defeat Elms 107-43 in their first game of 2026.
