HOW IT HAPPENED

Lasell would start the game off with the early offensive advantage, scoring the opening goal in the first minute of play. The Lasers would take six more shots in the next five minutes, but the Elms defense would block two of those shots and senior goaltender Kaitlyn Lynes (South Hadley, Mass.) would make three saves. Lynes would add one last save before the opening quarter ended, however Lasell would add to their lead by scoring four more goals. The second quarter would once again see the Lasers score two quick goals, but Lynes would make two more saves and the Blazers defense would block a third shot. As the quarter continued, Lasell would continue to put offensive pressure on Lynes and the Elms defense, but the Blazers would hold off their conference foes with Lynes making five saves, including stopping a penalty stroke attempt, along with another blocked shot by the defense. As the clock neared the end of the half, senior defender Elizabeth Franzoni (Rutland, Vt.) would make her first defensive save of the game, followed by another save by Lynes, but the Lasers would go into the halftime break with a 8-0 lead.
