Women's Lacrosse Outshined by Lasell in Conference Play
AUBURNDALE, Mass. - The Elms College Women's Lacrosse team traveled to Lasell University in conference action on Wednesday evening.
BASICS
Score: Elms College 7 | Lasell University 20
Records: Blazers 1-10, 1-8 (GNAC) | Lasers 10-5, 5-4 (GNAC)
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Blazers would strike first when senior midfielder/attack Greta Frankwicz (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) would score a goal assisted by freshman midfielder Ali Sullivan (Chicopee, Mass.) to give Elms a 1-0 lead. Lasell would score unanswered goals before junior attack/midfielder Jackie Cronin (Smithtown, N.Y.) scored to tie the game at 2-2. Lasell would pull ahead briefly before sophomore defender Rachel Dort (Chicopee, Mass.) tied the game at 3-3. Lasell would jump out to an 8-3 lead, stifling the Blazers defense, but later on in the second quarter the Frankwicz-Cronin connection would strike for Elms, as Frankwicz would record another third goal, this time assisted by Cronin. Cronin would provide another assist on a Sullivan goal, but the Blazers were unable to keep pace with Lasell and went into the halftime locker room down 12-5.
The Lasers continued to run through the Blazers defense early in the second half, going up 16-5 before Dort scored a second time to try and give the Blazers some momentum. However, the Elms defense struggled, and a late fourth quarter goal by Cronin softened the blow a little, but Elms fell to Lasell 20-7.
