Parks Named NECC Player of the Week

CHICOPEE, Mass. – Elms College senior forward Denisha Parks (Fall River, Mass.) was selected as the first New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the 2014-15 season, announced by the conference office Monday morning. Park was a five-time NECC Women's Basketball player of the week selection as a junior.

Parks paced the Blazers offensively in three of four games to start the 2014-15 campaign. After missing the season-opener, Parks is averaging 20 points, shooting 36.8% from the floor and 73.7% from the foul line, with 11 rebounds per game. Parks posted a pair of double-doubles on the week with a 22-11 effort aginsat Mount Holyoke, followed by a 20-14 performance against Bridgewater State. Against the Bears, Parks connected on a three-pointer at the buzzer to send the game into overtime in the Blazers home opener. Park shot a season-high 70% (7-of-10) from the field with 18 points and eight rebounds at Anna Maria.

Parks and the Blazers will return to action as they host Newbury College on December 2nd in the Blazers' NECC schedule opener at Picknelly Arena. Tip-off is slated for 6:00 p.m.
