Vanessa Vurno Claims NECC Rookie Honors

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Elms College freshman Vanessa Vurno (Salem, Conn.) was selected as the first New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week for the 2016 season, announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.

In her collegiate debut against Wells College, Vurno racked up five points, second-most on the team, with three goals and two assists during a 14-12 victory. Vurno notched her first career hat trick on four shot with three ground balls and two draw controls.

Vurno and the Blazers will return to play Tuesday against St. Mary's (Ind.), followed by a tilt with Cazenovia Thursday afternoon at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
