Chicopee, MA. - Despite a hot start the Elms College Women's Basketball Team suffered a setback at the hands of the visiting Mitchell Mariners.
The Blazers got off to a great start earning a 19 -11 advantage at the end of the first quarter only to see Mitchell bounce back with a big second quarter of their own to leave the teams all tied up at 33 a piece at the half.
Mitchell was able to get out in front in the third quarter and never looked back. Kelsey Hernandez led the way for the Mariners with 26 points, 3 assists and 4 steals. Francesca Pinard registered a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Amina Wiley was also big for the Mariners with 18 points and 5 rebounds.
The Blazers were able to cut the lead down to single digits late but could not climb all the way back. Molly Moulton had another big night for the Blazers with 26 points and 6 rebounds. Angelica Peguero-Flores had 11 points and 7 rebounds. Regina LeBlanc pitched in with an impressive 7 points, 8 assists and 4 steals.
The Blazers are back in action on Thursday when they travel to Newbury College at 7pm
