Softball Alumni Participate in 20 Angels in the Outfield Charity Tournament

BLOOMFIELD, Conn. – Over the winter break, several Elms College softball alumni participated in the 20 Angels in the Outfield Charity Tournament in honor of the Sandy Hook victims and their families.

The three-day event took place on Dec. 26-28 at Fastpitch Nation in Bloomfield, Conn., and the benefit raised an incredible $21,000 which was donated directly to the families of the victims.

Fastpitch Nation is one of the largest indoor training facilities dedicated to fastpitch softball. Its 24,000 square foot facility is the state-of-the-art in fastpitch softball instruction.

The Blazers' alumni team consisted of Destinee Meeker, Devan Meeker, Ally Norton-Graffum, Kelly Callahan, Jenna Lipscomb, Cassy LePetri, Tammie Tremblay Lindskog, Anne Norton-Graffum and Adrienne Walker.

Each team paid $150 per game, and for each home run that was hit during the event, Fastpitch Nation donated an extra $10 to the relief effort.

Prior to the start of each game, umpires, players and coaches from each team formed a circle around the pitcher's circle holding hands, and observed a 27-second moment of silence in honor of the 27 victims.
