Elms Names Matt Smith New Head Coach for Men's Lacrosse
CHICOPEE, Mass. - Elms College Athletic Director Rob Southall announced this week that Matt Smith will be the College's new Head Coach for Men's Lacrosse.
"I'm excited to welcome Matt Smith to the Blazer Family" said Southall. "His experiences and success across several different programs have prepared him well for the next chapter of the Elms College Lacrosse program. Coach Matt is very familiar with the GNAC and is committed to building a program built on leadership, accountability and culture."
Smith most recently served as the head lacrosse coach for University of Connecticut (MCLA Division I) from 2022 to 2024 and as the Assistant Head Coach of the Paper City Oaks (NABLL) since 2023. He previously served as an assistant coach at American International College (NCAA Division II), specializing in faceoffs and sideline personnel, head coach of the New England Oaks club lacrosse team, head coach and defensive coordinator of the Boys' Varsity team at Chicopee Comprehensive High School, and as an assistant coach for the Chicopee High School Boys' Varsity team.
Smith holds a bachelor's degree from Westfield State University in 2002.
