Men's Golf Chosen as Favorite in 2012 NECC Preseason Poll
ATTLEBORO, Mass. - The Elms College men's golf team was selected to finish first in the 2012 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Preseason Poll as announced by the league office on Monday.
Elms, which finished second behind Babson College at last year's NECC Championship outing, received 44 total points in preseason voting along with three of the seven first place votes.
The Blazers are led by fourth-year head coach Craig Cowles who directed the team to the NECC championship in 2010. Last season, Henry Fall (Harpswell, Maine) was named First Team All-NECC after finishing third overall, while Nick Smith (Enfield, Conn.) was tabbed First Team All-NECC and was the low overall scorer among all freshmen en route to earning NECC Rookie of the Year honors. Phil Rurak (Wilbraham, Mass.) was named Second Team All-NECC after placing in a three-way tie for ninth overall during the two-day event.
