Baseball Selected Fourth In 2011 NECC Preseason Poll
ATTLEBORO, Mass. – The Elms College baseball team was chosen to finish fourth in the 2011 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Preseason Poll as announced by the league on Friday.
Elms, which finished its 2010 campaign 10-22 overall, 5-10 in the NECC, received 33 total votes to place fourth in the poll as voted upon by the seven member head coaches. Daniel Webster College received six of seven first place votes to claim the top spot with 64 points, while Becker College earned 50 points to come in second.
The Blazers returns 13 players to the diamond, including senior shortstop Brendan Cordeiro (Berkley, Mass.) who was named Honorable Mention All-NECC in 2010. 11 freshmen join the program under first-year head coach Nathan Bashaw to round out Elms' 24-player roster. Elms begins its journey to the NECC Championship tournament on Saturday, March 5 when it plays a doubleheader against Finlandia University to open play at the Gene Cusic Classic during the team's annual spring break trip to Fort Myers, Fla.
