Kerry Ashe - Elms College freshman women's cross country
runner Kerry Ashe (Springfield, Mass.) was chosen
at this week's female student athlete spotlight.
A nursing major, Ashe is in her first season with the Blazers' cross country team.
Through the first three cross country events of the 2010 season, Ashe has been Elms' fourth-best finisher. She clocked a personal best time of 29:36 in the women's 5-kilometer race at the Eagle Invitational hosted by Daniel Webster College, and clocked a time of 30:31 at the Blazers Invitational. In the season-opening race at Smith College, Ashe recorded a 34:00.
Briefly describe your favorite sports moment (playing or as a fan):
My favorite sports moment was getting sick 100 yards before the finish line during our high school homecoming race and still winning the event.
Who has been your biggest influence outside of sports and why:
My mom has been my biggest influence because she works really hard and puts everyone else's needs before her own.
Why did you choose to attend Elms College:
Where is your favorite place to travel and why:
Ireland because there is so much to see and it is nice to see where my family came from.
Where is the one place you would like to travel to in the future and why:
What is your favorite sports book or movie:
Fever Pitch because I am a big Boston Red Sox fan.
