Anne Blanchette
Elms College junior women's volleyball player Anne
Blanchette (Byfield, Mass.) was selected as this week's
female student athlete spotlight.
Blanchette is an elementary education major at Elms and has just completed her first season as a member of the women's volleyball program.
In her debut season on the court with the Blazers, Blanchette saw action in 90 sets through 27 matches (mostly as a libero) contributing 119 digs, five service aces and eight assists. Blanchette averaged 1.62 digs per set during conference competition and 1.32 per set for the entire season.
Briefly describe your favorite sports moment (playing or as a fan):
My favorite sports moment was playing goalie in soccer and having a shutout season with my other teammate goalies.
Who has been your biggest influence in sports and why:
My mom. She has been through a lot yet still has a smile on her face all the time. She supports all my choices and always knows what to say to help cheer people up.
Why did you choose to attend Elms College:
Where is your favorite place to travel and why:
I like traveling to Florida. It's peaceful, beautiful and I can visit family.
Where is the one place you would like to travel to in the future and why:
What is your favorite sports book or movie:
My favorite movie is Mighty Ducks. The team played together and had fun no matter what.
