WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL HELD OFF BY SIMMONS, 3-1
CHICOPEE, MA, Sept. 14, 2006 - Elms College freshman setter Kimberly Phillips (Randolph, MA) handed out 19 assists and freshman middle hitter Melissa Clark (Chicopee, MA) added six kills and a team-high three block solos, but visiting Simmons College posted a 3-1 (30-26, 30-24, 24-30, 31-29) win over the Blazers in Thursday night's non-conference women's volleyball match at the Maguire Center.
Elms College fell to 1-2 with the loss, while Simmons won its first match of the season to improve to 1-2.
The Sharks received a match-high 15 kills and four block solos from 6-3 junior middle blocker Kristine Lucas (South Boston, MA), senior setter Chel'C Pool (Lubbock, TX) added a match-high 31 assists and senior outside hitter Jamie Rear (Junction City, OR) added 10 kills and a match-high 10 service aces.
The match featured a total of 20 ties and 12 lead changes.
Elms College returns to action on Saturday, September 16 at Castleton State College to face the host Spartans and Lyndon State College.
