Chalis Bird is currently in her third season as a member of Elms' women's swim team. In 2011-12, Bird captured second place in the 100-yard freestyle (57.47) at the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship and was the anchor leg of the winning 200-yard medley relay team (1:58.30). She is also part of all five of the Blazers' record-holding relay squads (in yards) and has had a hand in Elms' 200-meter medley relay and 200-meter freestyle relay records.

Why did you choose Elms College?

I chose Elms College because I wanted to be able to swim and also get a great education.

The Division III Identity encompasses the following six words: Sportsmanship, Responsibility; Comprehensive Learning, Proportion, Passion, Citizenship…which of these words means the most to you and why?

I identify with passion because without it, not much else matters.

The last name 'Bird' is Native American.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

I see myself having just graduated with a doctorate degree in zoology/botany and traveling for research.
