Emalee Furtek

Elms College sophomore women's swimmer Emalee Furtek (Ludlow, Mass.) was chosen as this week's female student athlete spotlight.

Furtek, a natural science major, is in her second season as a member of the Blazers' women's swim team.

At the season-ending New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) championships, Furtek helped pace Elms to a new school record in the 200-yard medley relay as the Blazers set and reset a total of 11 (seven individual, four relay) records during the three-day event. Three meets into the 2010-11 season, Furtek joined three teammates in setting a new Elms school and pool mark in the 200-meter medley relay and added an individual school record in the 50-meter butterfly with a time of 32.82.
