Emalee Furtek
Elms College sophomore women's swimmer Emalee Furtek
(Ludlow, Mass.) was chosen as this week's female student
athlete spotlight.
Furtek, a natural science major, is in her second season as a member of the Blazers' women's swim team.
At the season-ending New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) championships, Furtek helped pace Elms to a new school record in the 200-yard medley relay as the Blazers set and reset a total of 11 (seven individual, four relay) records during the three-day event. Three meets into the 2010-11 season, Furtek joined three teammates in setting a new Elms school and pool mark in the 200-meter medley relay and added an individual school record in the 50-meter butterfly with a time of 32.82.
Briefly describe your favorite sports moment (playing or as a fan):
My favorite sports moment was competing in my first paintball semi-professional tournament.
Who has been your biggest influence in sports and why:
My dad because he swam.

I like traveling to North Carolina beaches and relaxing.
