WOMEN'S SWIMMING SINKS REGIS, 112-77

WESTON, MA, Jan. 31, 2009 - Elms College freshman Ashley Arbo (Rocky Hill, CT) posted three first place finishes and the Blazers won 10 of 16 total events en route to a 112-77 win at Regis College in Saturday's women's swim meet.

With the win, Elms College improved to 3-11 overall.

Arbo cruised to victories in the 1,000-yard freestyle (12:22.52), 100-yard butterfly (1:13.08) and 200-yard backstroke (2:35.85).

Freshman Katie Roberts (Torrington, CT) and sophomore Theresa Pitassi (Naugatuck, CT) each won two events for the Blazers in Saturday's victory.

Roberts clocked winning times in both the 200-yard freestyle (2:34.19) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:22.78), while Pitassi was a double-winner in the 100-yard freestyle (1:02.52) and 50-yard freestyle (28.34).

Elms College returns to action on Wednesday, February 4 at Trinity in a meet that will also include Mount Holyoke. Start time is 7:00 p.m.
