CHICOPEE, MA, Nov. 9, 2007 - Elms College sophomore
Liz Walker (Holyoke, MA) and senior Kaity
Jo Bryll (East Hartland, CT) both earned a pair of first
place finishes to help lead the Blazers to a 114-80 victory over
Western Connecticut State University in Friday night's women's
swimming dual meet at Partyka Natatorium.
With the victory Elms College moves to a record of 2-1 while the loss drops the Colonials to a mark of 0-1.
Walker clocked a new school record in the 100 meter individual medley finishing with a time of 1:15.11. Walker's other first place finish came in the 100 meter breaststroke at a time of 1:20.11. Bryll earned a first place finishes in the 200 meter freestyle and 100 meter freestyle with times of 2:30.77 and 1:07.67, respectively.
Walker and Bryll teamed with sophomore Marie Waterhouse
(East Longmeadow, MA) and junior Kate Orefice
(Southington, CT) to win the 200 meter medley relay at a
time of 2:14.25.
Western Connecticut sophomore Francesca Testa (Cheshire, CT) and freshman Karissa Piedescalzo (Cheshire, CT) both earned first place finishes for the Colonials. Testa placed first in the 100 meter butterfly with a time of 1:14.33 and Piedescalzo clocked a winning time of 5:27.48 in the 400 meter freestyle.
Elms College returns to action Tuesday, November 13 at Smith College. Meet time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
