Do you have any relatives that play/played collegiate or professional sports?: My mother played soccer at CCSU.
Why did you choose to attend Elms College?: I chose Elms because the first time I came here I felt like I belonged. You could tell it's a very close-knit community and that's exactly what I wanted. Family is very important to me and by the second time I came here, multiple people knew me by my name and that made me feel like I was apart of the family. The feeling I felt every time I came on campus was was extremely warm, loving and overall electrifying, as Blazers should be. I came here because I knew I could succeed with the professors, who truly care about what they do, and the beautiful labs in Lyons.
What is your favorite moment as an athlete so far?: Earlier in my senior year, we played a team in our conference and lost 4-0. I bawled my eyes out in my teammates arms during half time because I felt extremely upset losing to a team we normally shut out. The next time we played them on our home field, it was a very important game; we needed it to qualify for states and a shot at playoffs. I went out there and put two goals in the back of their net, one of them dedicated to my grandma in the hospital at the time. We won that game 3-2 and I was never more proud of myself as an athlete.
What is your favorite place to travel, and why?: Jamaica is my favorite place to travel. It's my family's homeland which means it holds a lot of significance to me as well. Not only that, but the country is so beautiful from it's sparkly beaches to the laid back lifestyle. I believe there's no place like it.
What is your favorite food?: I love a good chicken quesadilla. I'm in for anything with chicken and or cheese.
What are your future plans?: In the future, I want to choose a career that helps people somehow. I'm not sure exactly what career I'm looking towards right now, but definitely something that combines my love for helping people and my love for biology.
Have you faced any major challenges or obstacles? If yes, please explain.: My sophomore year, I suffered from a bad concussion and a bruised retina. I was out for the whole season, but was able to come back the semi-final game. We ended up losing and that hurt worse that anything. I used that season as motivation to be better next season. I remember going out in the snow kicking the ball around trying to perfect my form on both feet and going on to compete all year round until fall came back around again. I came back fitter and better than before. I look back at this time whenever I might feel weak mentally.
