Gianna Gorneault
Elms College freshman women's soccer player Gianna Gorneault (Springfield, Mass.) was selected as this week's female student athlete spotlight.
Gorneault just completed her first season as a member of the Blazers' women's soccer program and is a nursing major at Elms.
Gorneault finished her debut season as the team's third leading scorer with five goals, one assist and 11 points, helping Elms claim the third seed in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship tournament. All five of Gorneault's scores came against conference competition including a hat trick against local rival Bay Path College. She also struck for goals against Southern Vermont College and Wheelock College and delivered an assist against Daniel Webster College helping the Blazers post a 6-2 record in league play.
Briefly describe your favorite sports moment (playing or as a fan):
My favorite sports moment was winning the Western Massachusetts title during my first year playing varsity soccer (2008) in high school.
Who has been your biggest influence in sports and why:
My mother. She is a survivor of breast cancer and is the strongest person I know.
Why did you choose to attend Elms College:
Where is your favorite place to travel and why:
I love to travel to California because of the great weather.

My favorite movie is Rudy because it is based on the
power of determination.
