Taylor Darby
Elms College freshman women's basketball player Taylor Darby (Bristol, Conn.) was selected as this week's female student athlete spotlight.
Darby completed her first season as a member of the Blazers' women's basketball program and is a nursing major at Elms.
Darby played in 23 games for Elms this season and averaged 3.6 points per contest and finished with 83 total points, hauled in 40 rebounds, dished out 16 assists and recorded nine steals. In a game at Bay Path College, Darby netted a collegiate-career high 11 points to help the Blazers to a 20-point win over the Wildcats.
Briefly describe your favorite sports moment (playing or as a fan):
My favorite sports moment was when Aaron Boone of the New York Yankees hit the game-winning home run in game seven of the 2003 American League Championship Series against the Boston Red Sox.
Who has been your biggest influence in sports and why:
My biggest influence has been my parents because they have shown me that hard work is important and they have taught me everything in life.
Why did you choose to attend Elms College:
Where is your favorite place to travel and why:
My favorite place to travel to is New York City and the beach because I love the crowdedness of the city and the quietness of the beach.
Where is the one place you would like to travel to in the future and why:
I'd like to travel to Europe and attempt to track my roots.
What is your favorite sports book or movie:
My favorite movie is Hoosiers because it is a great,
classic, motivational movie.
