Destinee Meeker
Elms College senior softball player Destinee Meeker
(Bantam, Conn.) was selected as this week's female student
athlete spotlight.
Meeker, an elementary education and English major at Elms, is entering her fourth season as a member of the softball program.
In 2010, Meeker was a bright spot in the circle for the Blazers, tossing 27.2 innings (five starts in seven games played) with 14 strikeouts and a 4.23 ERA en route to a 4-0 record. At the dish, she connected for 17 hits, three doubles, a home run and 18 runs driven in. As a sophomore, Meeker garnered First Team All-New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) honors. She batted .381 with a team-leading two home runs and 22 RBI that included a team-best .619 slugging perentage in 16 starts.
Briefly describe your favorite sports moment (playing or as a fan):
My favorite sports moment was getting to the final game of the NECC Championship tournament.
Who has been your biggest influence outside of sports and why:
My parents because they have always been there, supported me and encouraged me.
Why did you choose to attend Elms College:
Where is your favorite place to travel and why:
I like traveling to all new places and seeing new things!
Where is the one place you would like to travel to in the future and why:
What is your favorite sports book or movie:
My favorite movie is Remember The Titans because of its
inspirational messages all throughout.
