Sarah Buckley
Elms College sophomore softball player Sarah Buckley (Wilbraham, Mass.) was chosen as this week's female student athlete spotlight.
Buckley, a nursing major at Elms, is in her second season as a member of the Blazers' softball program.
During her freshman season, Buckley was named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookie of the Year helping the Blazers reach the NECC Championship Tournament title game primarily as a first baseman. Now a sophomore, Buckley has returned to her original position (catcher), and is currently hitting at a .333 clip with seven hits, three runs batted in, and four walks. For her efforts during Elms' 2011 spring break trip to Fort Myers, Fla., Buckley was named the NECC Co-Hitter of the Week - her first conference accolade of the season.
