Student Athlete Spotlight

Kim Lastowski – Elms College senior softball outfielder Kim Lastowski (Turners Falls, Mass.) was selected as this week’s female student athlete spotlight.

Lastowski is a nursing major who would one day like to visit Hawaii and take advantage of its warm weather and tropical beaches. Her non-sports icon is her mother. "Being a mother is a full-time job and it requires you to be completely selfless."

There are many reasons students choose to come to Elms College -

"I chose Elms College because it is close to home, yet far enough away to get the experience of being away. The nursing program here is also very recognized and I was also given a chance to continue playing softball."

Lastowski, competing in her final season for the Blazers, is hitting at a .338 clip through the first 20 games of the season. She leads the team in hits (23), runs scored (19) and at-bats with 68. She is batting .421 in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) play with eight hits, 11 RBI and a team-high three doubles, helping lift the squad to a 6-0 start in league action. Lastowski has been a solid contributor in the outfield for Elms this season, and has also seen action behind the plate in four games thus far.
