Jesse Zina
Elms College freshman men's cross country runner Jesse Zina (Ludlow, Mass.) was chosen as this week's male student athlete spotlight.
Zina, who completed his first season as a member of the men's cross country team during the fall of 2010, is a nursing major at Elms.
Zina clocked a collegiate personal best time of 31:38 in the 8-kilometer New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship race to place 10th overall and earn Second Team All-NECC honors. Zina, who galloped to a time of 31:58 at the Western New England Collegiate Conference (WNEC) Invitational earlier in the season, is listed fourth and eighth on Elms’ top 10 records list (for any 8-kilometer course) for those two respective performances. Zina is also ranked fifth on the program’s Elms course school record list as he registered a time of 34:53 at the Blazer Invitational. Zina was Elms’ top finisher in five of six meets during the 2010 campaign.
