Garrett Brune
Elms College junior men's swimmer Garrett Brune (Lakeville, Mass.) was chosen as this week's male student athlete spotlight.
A biology major at Elms, Brune just completed his third season as a member of the Blazers' men's swim team.
During the 2010-11 swim season, Brune set a new school mark in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:27.70), shattering the record during the three-day season-ending New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) Championship. Brune also set a new Elms record in the 50-meter breaststroke gliding to a time of 33.63 in double-dual meet action against Gordon College and Norwich University. Brune now holds six individual school records, including the 50-yard breaststroke (29.03), the 100-yard breaststroke (1:06.13), the 100-meter breaststroke (1:16.02) and the 200-meter breaststroke (2:50.91).
Briefly describe your favorite sports moment (playing or as a fan):
My favorite sports moment was placing fifth at our swimming conference meet as a sophomore in high school.
Who has been your biggest influence in sports and why:
My parents and grandparents because of all of their support.

My favorite places to travel to are ponds, rivers and any natural environments.
