Julie Hurley

Elms College freshman field hockey and women's lacrosse player Julie Hurley (Palmer, Mass.) was selected as this week's female student athlete spotlight.

Hurley, a nursing major at Elms, is in the midst of her first season of women's lacrosse and completed her debut season as a member of the field hockey program in the fall of 2010.

On the field hockey field, Hurley played 17 games with 15 starts, primarily as a midfielder or defender. Hurley helped patrol the backfield for the Blazers and registered one shot during the 2010 season. As a member of the women's lacrosse team, Hurley has seen action between the pipes in five games and has made 70 saves.

Briefly describe your favorite sports moment (playing or as a fan):

My favorite sports moment was when my high school field hockey team finally made the Western Massachusetts playoffs.

Why did you choose to attend Elms College:

I chose Elms College because I like the size of the school and it has a great nursing program. 

Where is your favorite place to travel and why:

My favorite place to travel to is Block Island because it has great beaches. 

Where is the one place you would like to travel to in the future and why:

I'd like to travel to Ireland because I hear it's gorgeous. 

What is your favorite sports book or movie:

My favorite movie is Remember the Titans because it is touching.
