Stephen Fisher

Stephen Fisher - Elms College sophomore baseball player Stephen Fisher (West Boylston, Mass.) was chosen as this week's male student athlete spotlight.

Fisher, a marketing major, is entering his second season as a member of the Blazers' baseball team.

During the 2010 baseball season, Fisher record a .310 batting average, notched 36 hits, led the team with four triples, was 11-11 in stolen base attempts and led the squad with 31 walks. Fisher also tied multiple individual game records last season, including runs scored in a game (4), hits in a game (4), and walks in a game (4). His 31 walks in 2010 was also a tie for the single season team record. For his efforts, Fisher was twice named New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookie of the Week.

Briefly describe your favorite sports moment (playing or as a fan):

My favorite moment playing a sport was playing in the state finals in high school.

Who has been your biggest influence outside of sports and why:

My father. He has always pushed me to not only be a good ball player, but an even better person.

Why did you choose to attend Elms College:

The atmosphere of Elms College was what I was looking for. I like the campus and was recruited to play baseball.

Where is your favorite place to travel and why:

The Outer Banks of North Carolina because it's just a great place to take a vacation.

Where is the one place you would like to travel to in the future and why:

Hawaii. Beautiful weather and beaches.

What is your favorite sports book or movie:

Summer Of 1949 is a great read about the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees.
