Andrew Bunger

Elms College junior baseball player Andrew Bunger (Southington, Conn.) was selected as this week's male student athlete spotlight.

Bunger, an education major at Elms, is entering his third year as a member of the Blazers' baseball program.

A relief pitcher, Bunger pitched in eight games during the 2010 season and made one start for Elms, striking out nine batters in 16.1 innings of work on the hill as a sophomore. During his freshman campaign in 2009, Bunger struck out 11 hitters in 18.1 innings pitched, appearing in 12 games - all in relief - en route to a 5.89 earned run average (ERA).

Briefly describe your favorite sports moment (playing or as a fan):

My favorite sports moment was playing on a state championship baseball team.

Who has been your biggest influence in sports and why:

My mother because she is always supportive.

Why did you choose to attend Elms College:

I chose Elms College because it was a chance to play baseball at the next level.

Where is your favorite place to travel and why:

My favorite place to travel to is any beach because it is the most relaxing place.

Where is the one place you would like to travel to in the future and why:

I would like to visit Europe so I can see the world.

What is your favorite sports book or movie:

My favorite movie is Friday Night Lights.
